V Magazine, Spring 2005
Fronted by a sexy siren teleported straight from a Godard casting
call, La Laque explodes in a beautiful riot of beats and shrieks,
leaving only a cloud of thick Gauloises smoke in its wake. It sounds
like it wouldn't work. But, like so many things French, somehow it
inexplicably does. Call it that certain je ne sais quoi.

If you speak French, don't tell me what the story is. If you don't speak French, the sky's the limit...whatever story that pops in your head will be erotic, erotic and draped in shadow

... cooler than Stereolab ... Somebody sign them already.
- Village Voice
The music they play is gorgeous. Think 60's French new wave soundtrack, with prominent string parts and lush melodies and almost child-like vocals that reminded me of a cross between France Gall and Jane Birkin ... They're also great performers, especially singer Devery ... exuding the sex appeal of a Brigitte or even a Marilyn.

a truly inspired blend of sixties pop and post-modern chamber pop - all fronted by lead chanteuse Devery, who by all rights is the living embodiment of Lady Miss Kier and Catherine Deneuve. Ouch !
